Tibbles the Lighthouse Cat
It is widely believed that one cat, and one cat alone, wiped out a species of bird, called Lyall's Wren, on Stephens Island, off of New Zealand
Actually the work of a colony of feral cats accidentally introduced to the island
Lyalls Wren had actually been common throughout all of New Zealand
Predation from invasive species had confined it to just that one small island
Within two years of the introduction of feral cats, the wren became extinct
Colonists attempted to exterminate the feral cat colony, but it was already too late
