Trying to Reintroduce Certain Species

The eventual goal is to reintroduce them to Socorro Island, off the coast of Mexico
This program is one of many programs worldwide just like it
Has been successful before
Wolves in Yellowstone National Park, for example
But like all reintroduction programs, the reintroduction of the Socorro Dove has its obstacles
Mainly that there are still feral cats living on the island.
Scientist are working on removing the cats from the island before they reintroduce the birds

As mentioned before, cats are EVERYWHERE
They have large populations across the world
Very effective hunters and easily adapt to almost any environment
Because of all of this, it is most likely that on the mainland of countries and continents, the cats will remain there
Right now the most we can do is mitigate the problem and allow for the ecosystem to adapt to the cats
On islands though, the species there are usually found nowhere else, and cannot adapt as easily to the invasive species
The cats need to be removed before species can be properly reintroduced or protected
